A short student documentary examining the history and current status of the ongoing battle over LGBTQ+ content in the children's section of Alabama public libraries.
**************
An assignment in short documentary film-making in my senior year, this project turned out to be life-changing. I had been aware that there was legislation attempting to remove certain books from public libraries, but I had no idea how severe the problem had become. This film explores the situation specifically in Alabama as of March 2024, but the events it depicts are being mirrored all over the country, and things have only worsened in many places since 2024. I hope this film can serve as a wake-up call to everyone who values free speech and recognizes the dangers book banning represents.
